Day 84 of 84

So it’s here, the last day.  I completed my last workout of the Kris Gethin program last Saturday.  My friend’s who are also doing this program decided to stop by for a surprise visit last Saturday, so it was nice to end the program with them in the gym.

I definitely learned a lot from Kris Gethin and his videos, and I’m still committed to living a healthy lifestyle.  I’m not going to be as strict with my diet anymore, but I am still going to be eating clean, whole foods 5-6 times a day.  What I’m going to change is adding cheat meals into my program. I miss going out with friends and talking over good food or a couple of drinks or two.  

I’m heading to Vegas next weekend for a friend’s 25th B-day.  I haven’t had alcohol in my system for over 3.5 months, so it’s going to be interesting. I’m excited! Thank you Kris Gethin for everything you have taught me about dieting and overall bodybuilding.  I can see myself coming back to do his program later this year, but for now I’ll find another program to do that will shock my body for the next 12 weeks.

The year isn’t over and Operation Sexy 2012 still continues.

Day 70 of 84

Color Run So*Cal - Irvine was yesterday.  Pretty awesome time with some awesome friends.  It was the most relaxed run I’ve participated in so far, but still fun nonetheless!

Day 64 of 84


My schedule’s kind of out of whack because I left town for a wedding this past weekend. Today was supposed to be Legs Day, but I did Shoulders and Calves. As I was working out, I noticed a man on an elliptical. He had an artificial leg. If he can keep going, I can too. :)

Shoulders/Calves/Abs today.  I don’t know if the AC was down in the weight room or if its just that hot in there when you work out during the day, but the gym was especially hot today. I was sweating profusely just doing side lateral raises so hopefully that helped burn a little more calories than usual.
I like being able to stay home on the weekends because it gives the wifey and I a chance to experiment more with healthy cooking in the kitchen.  This morning we made some baked egg white bites and some sweet potato pancakes.  It was a good change from the regular oatmeal and scrambled egg whites.

Day 61 of 84

Today is supposed to be a rest day, but I’m feeling good and I’ve decided to do my resistance training today so that I can have my rest day on Saturday.  BTW…above is a clip of the wifey and I dancing with our instructor for Hip Hop Hustle.  Too bad the person recording didn’t hold the iPhone horizontally as to get the whole class.  =/

Now that we’re nearing the end of the program I’ve really been trying to push myself.  Today I think I pushed myself a little too hard cause I actually dropped the dumbbell on myself during my last set of dumbbell flat bench press. I’m alright though, aside from hurting my ego a bit! =P  I decided to finish that last set on a chest machine to keep it safe.  Biceps and triceps tomorrow! Let’s get it!!

Day 57 of 84
Switched around my rest days and decided to do my shoulders/calves/abs workout today since I want to attend the Hip Hop Hustle class tomorrow.  It’s been pretty hectic keeping up with the workout schedule, but I still haven’t missed a day of resistance training.  There’s a lot going on right now with me trying to keep up with the workouts, finishing my Masters, preparing for a huge project at work, hanging out out with friends/family, and everything else in between.  
I really can’t believe there are only 3 more weeks to this program. I honestly think I’m going to miss watching the daily video trainers by Kris Gethin.  His program has taught me so much about resistance training, cardio, diet, and keeping motivated.  I can’t wait to begin my own workout program and incorporate everything that I’ve been learning.

Day 57 of 84

How am I already in week 9 of this program? 

I saw Shyd the other day and I can definitely tell the progress he’s made just by looking at his skinny face. haha. 

I’ve noticed that my arms are a bit more defined and that under the right lighting… my abs look decent. hahaha. 

Longer commutes to work, financial strain and living with my aunt have made it difficult to grocery shop for healthy food and extremely easy to rummage through my aunt’s fridge for not-as-healthy-alternatives to take to work for lunch.  

In May, I will be moving to my own place, which is closer to work. I think that’ll give me greater self control over what foods I’m able to prepare. 

I’m looking forward to the end of this thing :)…

Turbo Kick class for my rest day.  The link is to an article that ranks the P90X “cast” form worst to best.  I never completed that program but I’ve done it enough times to understand all of the writer’s comments.  I LOLd at almost every single paragraph.

Day 49 of 84

Two of my friends who are doing this program with me came for a visit this weekend!  I like hearing their success stories that they’ve had so far.  Combined they’ve lost 25 lbs in the last 6 weeks.  I’m so proud of the both of them!  While they were over we were sharing stories of our diets and how some of our coworkers/friends look at us when we kindly decline their food that is outside of our current meal plan.  We also shared stories of how people associate the word, “diet” with, “I’m trying to get skinny.”  I’m constantly being questioned about why I’m on a diet if I’m already so skinny.  I tell them I want to build muscle, and they tell me that I need to eat more for that.  While this is partially true, I don’t think a majority of them understand how my diet actually works.  But I continue pushing along and hopefully I can show them that my diet combined with heavy training will get me closer to my overall goals.  

It was great having a workout buddy at the gym again with me.  I forget how much more you can work when there is someone else there pushing you to your limits.  I can barely lift up my mug to drink my beverage because my biceps are so friggin’ sore! I haven’t felt this sore since the beginning of the program. It’s great to have this feeling again!
